If you have a version of daz less than 1.8, go download the new version which fixes a bug that used to require a Escort DeFarge patch!
Tutorial Follows
This might not be the BEST way to do things in Daz, but I am introducting people to important parts of the animation menu.
The goal here is to make a simple animation. There are tutorials to death on how to get just the "right" animation, This is out of the scope of this tutorial.
- First, go to Daz 3d and set up an account.
- Put the free Daz Studio into your cart. Download.
- If you have time M3 and other free stuff in your cart. Look for...
- Aiko 3.0 Base
- Michael 3.0 Base
- EmotiGuy
- The weekly freebie. (new freebie every week)
- Install Daz and its content.
- Go to http://secondlife.com/community/avatar.php Download Second Life Avatar Mesh
- Install the avatar.
- Load the SL_Avatar into daz.
- You can easily arrange tabs by click-n-drag. Find PowerPose in the "Tab" menu. Drag it into a spot that works for you.
- Using the power-pose tool, select each of the hands & feet by clicking on the part (or by using the new power-pose tab) and toggle pins in the "Tool" menu.
- While frame 0 is still selected, memorize the figure.
- Move the frame slider at the bottom over to the end.
- Restore the pose. This is how you make poses loop. Then when you play, things still come together.
- Set the animation bar to the middle somewhere. Grab the avatar's waist and move around. Choose a couple more random places. Wiggle some more. Hit Play. Hit stop.
- Daz is useful for making 3d movies, pictures and more. They make it easy for 3d artists to get started... but I digress. If you want to thank me for this, go buy some stuff at Daz. I get a small chunk of it for a duration if you followed my link. If not, I accept daz3d gift certificates.
- Select Export BVH from the menu (while the Sl_avatar is selected)
- Upload to secondlife.
